Eric Townsend is a native Nashvillian. He graduated from Whites Creek High School in 1988. He received a B.S. degree in History/Political Science from Tennessee State in 1993 and a M.Ed. in Education in 1996.
Eric started his teaching career at Two Rivers Middle School, teaching Social Studies and Language Arts. After teaching 7th Grade for seven years, Eric moved to Maplewood High School in 2003 teaching Social Studies and becoming active in the Athletic and Music Departments.
Eric teaches GED classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights and in his spare time loves to hang out with friends from college talking politics, religion, and Black America.
Eric's philosophy of teaching is a mixture of Pragmatism and old fashioned ideals.
"Meet the student where he/she is and teach them."
