Maplewood High School opened its first Small Learning Community (SLC) during the 2006-2007 school year with the inception of its 9th Grade Academy and is currently in the process of implementing Career/Thematic Academies for the 2008-2009 school year based on the following criteria:

  • National Career Academy Coalition National Standards of Practice Self-Assessment Rubric
  • Student Career Interest Survey
  • 2017 Labor Market Predictions
  • Teacher Interest Surveys/Information
  • Exemplary CTE Programs
The following Career/Thematic Academies are being proposed:

  • Business Administration, Tourism & Hospitality (BATH)
  • Design, Automotive, and Electrical Construction Academy (DACA)
  • Human Nurturing Sciences Academy (HNSA)
  • Fine Arts, Math, & Science (FAMS)
